This ladybug cake collage came as a request from Sue in Canada asking if I could put some of my ladybug designs together in one image so she could use it to work from whilst making her daughters 1st birthday cake.

So Sue I hope this helps!!!

This is a girls confirmation cake design that I made lat week and I was really pleased with the final result. It used white, soft pink and an almost mushroom pink/brown as it’s colour scheme.

The design is simple but elegant with an embossed dove and cross on the top. White blossoms some with a pink centre soften and sweeten the design. A little sugar paste butterfly with the inscription finishes the design.

I’m doing a variation of this for a boys confirmation next week so I will also make a post for that cake.

I think variations of this would work well for many occasions. The dove could be replaced by a monogram, birthday number or even just a cross for a christening cake.

Cake decorating ideas in purple Inspired by Michelle Cake Designs

Purple cakes are very popular especially when butterflies are involved – I have no idea why I guess people who like purple also like butterflies!

Just because these designs are in purple does not mean they would not look great in any other colour combination.

I have been having fun looking back at my albums and grouping cakes by colour.

Blue comes in so many shades it is best to ask for a sample to match if your client is asking for a specific colour. These are just some of the cakes I have made in blue.

As you can see the most popular cakes I make in blue are christening cakes for little boys. Then the next most popular would be designs in the famous tiffany blue which I think is my favourite blue colour.

I have also put collages together for pink, purple, red and black & white cakes.

OK these are some of the cakes I have made that have red as the dominate colour. They range from Santa’s red hat to a red hot chilli. There is even a couple of wedding cakes and a mini cooper car.

Enjoy!

I have put a few photos together of a cupcake tower that I made this week for a 30th birthday celebration. The theme was black, purple and silver – diamonds and pearls.

The top cutting tier coconut cake with white chocolate ganache layers was shimmered dark to light purple with two rows of purple pearls and a single row of diamante to finish. The birthday girls initial “L” was made in black fondant and decorated with large diamante. On delivery the fantastic “30” in diamante was added to the cake. The birthday inscription was finished in silver and three purple candles one for each decade added to the cake board.

The white chocolate cupcakes were baked in black foil paper cases and topped with white and purple buttercream swirls. These were then decorated with large silver pearls and either white or purple smaller pearls all edible.

I cover the display boards that held the cupcakes in black and purple fondant and trimmed them with purple ribbon to match the top tier. The cupcakes were then displayed alternate purple/white/purple buttercream etc.

The purple has photographed a little out of true colour. I added a couple of the cupcakes to the display so you can see the effect. The reason I usually do not photograph the whole display is that I decorate my buttercream cupcakes in their packing boxes that way they do not get damaged so that is why you will see a lot of my pictures of cupcakes in boxes.
