This 21st birthday cake idea present design has to be my most popular when I’m asked to do two tiers but this week for the first time I was asked to make it in colours other than pink and white!! I was starting to think this would never happen.

This is the original design which was actually the first cake I posted in this blog.

This time the hearts were replaced with polka dots but other than that it is the same. You could also use stars or flowers in the design.

I did include a swing tag with initial in diamante on the top tier.

I really like the tiffany blue, white, black and silver colour combination.

The top tier was white mud cake layered with white chocolate ganache and the bottom tier chocolate mud with dark chocolate ganache.

Bye for now, Michelle

This is a girls confirmation cake design that I made lat week and I was really pleased with the final result. It used white, soft pink and an almost mushroom pink/brown as it’s colour scheme.

The design is simple but elegant with an embossed dove and cross on the top. White blossoms some with a pink centre soften and sweeten the design. A little sugar paste butterfly with the inscription finishes the design.

I’m doing a variation of this for a boys confirmation next week so I will also make a post for that cake.

I think variations of this would work well for many occasions. The dove could be replaced by a monogram, birthday number or even just a cross for a christening cake.

I just wanted to show you a christening cupcake tower that I made last week.

There was a selection of both chocolate and caramel cupcakes which had been topped in either white or pink buttercream (my recipe is so so so smooth http://inspired-by-chocolate-and-cakes.com/chocolate-buttercream.html ) or whipped dark chocolate ganache.

They were baked in pink, silver and gold foil cases to tie in with the christening theme. They were topped with handmade fondant decorations – a mixture of small embossed butterflies in pink and white, pearls, bows and blossoms in pink and white.

Some of the cupcakes were displayed on the families wire cupcake stand and others were packed into display boxes and tied with ribbons as gifts for the guests.

The top cake had a piped design in pink that included butterflies, flowers and a bird amongst the swirls. It was displayed in front on the cupcake tower as I did not chance putting it on top of the slightly wobbly stand!

The whole display looked lovely and I received a wonderful thank you and some photos that I have included in this collage.

I thought I would start putting together different ideas for cake designs by cake colour. The first is Pink Cakes.

They range from christening and 1st birthday to 21st and 40th birthday cakes. The blossom cross cupcakes were for a christening the others were for easter. There is also a pregnant belly cake for a baby shower in the colour combination pink and black which always works.

The pink and black 40th birthday cake had silver detailing from the invitations that her mother had made.

Pinks come in such a wide colour range from soft baby to hot hot pink, dusky pink to mushroom pink. My advice is if there is a particular pink you want matched then just give your cake designer a colour swatch so that they have a reference. Colour matching is easily done as everything is hand coloured.

I hope these fondant cakes inspire you in finding the perfect cake design for your occasion.

I do not think there goes a week that I do not make a cake that does not have at least one butterfly on it – usually white pink or purple! It is the most versatile theme the cakes here are for birthdays of any age weddings, cupcakes and christenings baptisms.

Again it is one of the collages I have put together. The original butterfly cake images can be found on my site www.inspiredbymichelle.com.au

The images there are larger and there are more cakes for you to see but this collage is just to act as an ideas board. I hope you like them.
